    Hello,

    I really need help with this, I have been struggling for days. I have many Woocommerce Plugins installed on my page, but in this case, I think the problem is related to Woocommerce Core Plugin.

    Everything was working fine, until we put on the page the scripts of Google Tag Manager. Since then, the cart page started going crazy. Sometimes when a product was added, and then when going to the cart, it said “Cart is empty” while you could clearly see in the widget, the number of products that were on the cart.

    We had to took out GTM scripts in order to make the cart function correctly, and now the page is only working with Google Analytics script, but the info we can get from only using GA and not using GTM is really poor (just pageviews and other items).

    We need to use GTM, it is really important for our business. The installation we did with GTM was the normal one. The one you can find on this link: https://support.google.com/tagmanager/answer/6103696?hl=us

    Hope somebody can help us. We will provide any further detail that may be needed to solve this issue.

    Thanks

  • @juanleal thanks for your topic!

    1) Could you share your site URL?

    2) Note that if you’re using Site Kit to integrate GTM on the site, it just adds the container code. All tags must still be managed directly from your Google Tag Manager account.

    It might be good to check if any of the tags specifically are causing the issue (you can temporarily pause tags for troubleshooting).

    Thanks to you for answering on such short notice!

    The URL of my site is: delixit.com

    I have tried with many different methods to add the container code/scripts of GTM. None of them actually worked. I tried with different plugins, with Site Kit, just adding the GTM script by myself on the code of the theme. All of those methods caused the same error of the cart not working well.

    I am actually going crazy haha, but will try to fix it. I will try with this option of trying to pause tags. I haven’t tried it yet.

    If there is another alternative or something you find out when checking the site, I will be more than grateful to listen to it.

    Thanks

    @reneesoffice

    I have tried pausing all of the tags and the same error came up. When going to checkout with products on the cart, it says “The cart is empty”.

    Clearly it is something related with the script and not with the tags itself. Maybe the theme I am using is in conflict with the script, maybe Woocommerce (but i don’t think this option is the most probable as Millions of sites around the world use Woocommerce and for sure more than one may be using GTM).

    Any thoughts?

    @juanleal thanks for following up and for these details!

    Very interesting. I’m seeing there has been similar reports in this Github issue:

    https://github.com/google/site-kit-wp/issues/1464

    Could you confirm which is your hosting provider and plan?

    @juanleal additionally, could you check for any browser console errors when you:

    1) add an item to the cart

    2) see the issue (item not added to cart)

    If you could take a screenshot that would be great. You can provide a link to screenshots using a service like Imgur or Jumpshare.

    Hello Renee!

    Thanks for answering again. Hope we can solve this issue, I have faith!

    I am using Godaddy as my hosting provider. Do you think they may be related to this issue? I have already talked to them and they suggested my to go with WordPress/Woocommerce support.

    Here I send you the link of the screenshot of what you are asking. It says “uncaught syntaxerror: invalid or unexpected token” in the console. I don’t know the meaning. You can see there that there are products on the cart by taking a look at the cart widget.

    Will be waiting for your answer! Thanks!

    @juanleal really appreciate this!

    The other users who reported a similar issue were on the Managed WordPress Hosting plan (potentially caching could be factor):

    https://github.com/google/site-kit-wp/issues/1464

    Are you on the Managed WordPress Hosting plan?

    (@juanleal)

    Yes, I am exactly using the Managed WordPress Hosting plan. Any way to solve it without going through them? As their support is really poor..

    Thanks

    @juanleal thanks for the confirmation! We’ll continue to investigate this and follow up with you when we know more. Thanks again for reporting.

    @reneesoffice Is there any update on this? I am in the exact same boat: managed wordpress with google site kit and an empty cart error. We are trying to launch late this week and this could be crippling.

    @grantsvdpadmin thanks for reaching out. We’re still working on recreating this issue to see where the problem lies and how to address it. It does seem to be quite specific factors involved (including server-side caching). It would be helpful to get more information about your case, but we’d need to address this in a separate support topic per forum guidelines.

    Could you open a new topic and provide the same information requested in this response above.

    Your Site Health information in the new topic or in this form would also be helpful.

    @juanleal just sending a quick update that we are in contact with the team at GoDaddy to help further troubleshoot the issue. We’ll keep you updated on the progress.

    @reneesoffice Thanks for reaching back!

    It is nice to read that. Please keep me updated as much as possible as we need to solve this ASAP. We have never been able to fully install GTM and it is valuable information for our business.

    It is definitely related to Godaddy, so I think we are on the right track.

    Will be waiting for news.

    Thanks!

    @juanleal could you let us know if you are still experiencing the issue?

    GoDaddy has released a fix, and I no longer experience the problem on a test site. Thank you!

    @juanleal since we have not heard from you, I am marking your topic as resolved. If you should have any questions or concerns, please open a new topic.
