• Hi

I’ve searched the forums for an answer to this and all replies are simply beyond my knowledge base. I manage my website by using and manipulating the dashboard.

How do I insert the HTML verification tag that Google generates for me to verify my business (www.bryandadson.co.uk). I have no information as to where it goes, or how and all replies seem to assume a certain amount of knowledge that I don’t have…

Please help. It’s driving me up the wall…!!

    Cheers

    Bryan

Are you referring to the verification code for Google Webmaster Tools?

    Hi
    Not sure…
I’m trying to verify my business through the Google business app. It gives me the option to verify by postcard (pointless) or I can verify instantly via a number of website options. The one I’m trying is their preferred one of uploading a string of generated numbers and letters into my website. But they give me no idea where of how to do this other than ‘upload this to your website’

    Thanks

    Hi

More specifically, this process (sorry about the cut and paste…)

    Recommended: HTML file upload
Upload an HTML file to your site.
    1. Download this HTML verification file. [googleb4e6cc16b49f356d.html]
    2. Upload the file to http://www.bryandadson.co.uk/
    3. Confirm successful upload by visiting http://www.bryandadson.co.uk/googleb4e6cc16b49f356d.html in your browser.
    4. Click Verify below.
To stay verified, don’t remove the HTML file, even after verification succeeds.

    Thanks in advance… 🙂

Those are the instructions! download the file and then upload it to your site via FTP or through your host’s control panel.

    Hi

You misunderstand. I am aware these are instructions. However,
    1) Where do I upload?
    2)what does FTP mean?
3)where in ‘my hosts control panel’ – is there an obvious box or do I have to add it somewhere a little more hidden, tag it on the end of the http://www.bryandadson.co.uk or what…?

You really are dealing with someone who fills in boxes provided by the website templates. I have no knowledge of code or WordPress beyond what I’ve picked up in the last 3 weeks. I don’t even know what HTML means, so I m just a little confused. Everyone has to start somewhere…

    Again, thanks

Bryan: Please contact the tech support folks for your host so they can walk you through their setup and show you how to use FTP and/or the control panel utilities to upload a file.

Hi Bryan, did you ever figure out where to attach it? I’ve had this same question forever and can’t seem to get answers as to WHERE within the control panel to attach it.
