• I have around 10 sites hosted under the .jm.live domain, and I’m struggling to figure out why Google refuses to index them. One of the sites, which had great indexing when it was on its own apex domain, is barely appearing now that it’s been moved to a WordPress MU setup. I’ve checked for issues like blacklisting and other common reasons, but none of them seem to be the cause.

    Can you help?

Just so you know the domain is about 5 months old. the websites have been built with care. no spammy sites. Most are static using google sites and or the wordpress mu site i mentioned. I have sitemaps for all sites, have submitted these multiple times on google webmaster. The sites are set to be indexable in wordpress, meaning i am not asking search engines not to index the sites.

Thanks, James. I’ve been using WordPress for about 13-14 years and never had this issue—except once when I pointed thousands of links to a new domain. Even then, it recovered after a while. One theory I have is that it might be treating the site as purely “live” content, which could be why it’s not indexing. It’s a real head-scratcher, especially since I have clients’ sites hosted on the multisite, and it’s not looking good at all.

    Hey @jamaicahomes
IT look-alike like you are hosting the website on a sub-domain with local domain extension
in this case we have few options –

1st – please check you have chosen the right website name in Google Search Console and put domain verification on the same subdomain extensions

2nd – Google generally does not crawl subdomains usually and with local domain extensions it will take time to index and does not even index (please read Google indexing guidelines carefully and build the website as per the guidelines)
