Thanks for reaching out.

You should be able to set this up through the Google console option on the Lite version just fine by following the doc you shared! In case it helps, we have a video walkthrough of the process here.

However, the Google account requires you to fill in your credit card details to access the console section and be able to create the app.

With that said, and considering your site needs, I’d recommend setting this up through any of the other supported Transactional Mailers.
