I’m looking at this, and while it *should* be simple – I can’t get it to generate proper permalinks for the products / categories. I’ll let you know if I get any further.
Hi – I’ve taken a first stab at this – but I’ve only got access to a really simple (1 category, 1 product) shop to test it on.
Download this file:
and save it in wp-content/plugins/
Then activate the plugin (It will show up as “WP Shopping Cart XML Sitemap”), then rebuild your sitemap (Settings->XML Sitemap->Rebuild Sitemap) and you should get entries added for your categories and products.
Let me know if you have any problems, or if it works for you – you can contact me through my blog at http://www.leewillis.co.uk
If you do have problems then just disable the plugin, and rebuild your sitemap.
@leewillis77, good job mate!! this won’t make it into the next WP e-Commerce version because we’re about to do a new release and we’re in feature freeze. However this is a totally awesome plugin and I’m sure that the WP e-Commerce Community will really really appreciate it…
@leewillis77. I am looking forward to trying it out and I’ll test it on multi category site. Up till now what I’ve been doing is going out to http://www.xml-sitemaps.com and generating a sitemap to ftp. What’s great about some of the xml sitemap plugins for wordpress is that they get added to as posts are made. I am hoping for this feature in your plugin.
My Plugin only adds products / categories to the sitemap generated by the Google XML Sitemaps plugin (http://ww.wp.xz.cn/extend/plugins/google-sitemap-generator/) so you’ll need that installed too.
Currently it doesn’t re-generate / re-submit the sitemap when products / categories are added – I’ll look into that now ๐
I’ve just uploaded a new version which should automatically trigger a rebuild whenever a product is added or updated.
I’d like to do the same or categories, but I don’t think wp-e-commerce has the right hooks. I need to do some digging to work out where they should go (Also when products are removed).
If you have any comments / issues please get in touch via my blog (http://www.leewillis.co.uk) as I’ll notice an email quicker than a post on here ๐
Thanks for the interest.
Hi
I have the wp e-commerce with wordpress mu and Google XML Sitemaps. But after activate the WP Shopping Cart XML Sitemap plugin and Rebuild Sitemap no entries are added for my categories and products.
Can I do something to identify what is wrong?
Thanks for your work.
Hmm. I’ve never used it under WordPress MU – but I’m not doing anything complicated I wouldn’t have thought.
Can you confirm that:
– You’ve got version 0.3 of the plugin
– You’ve got “Rebuild sitemap if you change the content of your blog” selected in the XML Sitemap generator settingsAlso be aware that quite often the sitemap isn’t re-generated immediately – it might take a few minutes before it’s rebuilt – especially if you’ve got “Build the sitemap in a background process (You don’t have to wait when you save a post)” selected.
Have you got a link to your sitemap?
Hi
Yes, Iยดve got version 0.3 of the plugin
Yes, Iยดve got “Rebuild sitemap if you change the content of your blog” selected in the XML Sitemap generator settingsOK – what version of wp-e-commerce are you running? & have you tried manually rebuilding the sitemap since you added my plugin?
Just to update – this is now available from the WordPress Plugin Directory at http://ww.wp.xz.cn/extend/plugins/wp-e-commerce-xml-sitemap/
I’d suggest anyone install that one to keep notified of updates etc.
@salsichad2 – If you’re still having problems feel free to get in touch via my blog (http://www.leewillis.co.uk) and we can try and work through it.
@mufasa – not sure if you’re planning on including this functionality in wp-e-commerce direct or not? Or just planning on linking to it as a companion plugin?
@salsichad – I’ve updated the plugin to version 0.3 in the WordPress Plugin Directory. This uses a supported method (from the new version of Google XML Sitemaps plugin) to rebuild the sitemap when products gets updated.
Can you try updating Google XML Sitemaps plugin and my sitemap plugin, and it should rebuild after you updated products.
Let me know if you have any problems
I am interested in your plugin WP Shopping Cart XML Sitemap, but it says that it hasn’t been tested with WP 3.01. I was wondering if an update was coming soon.
Thanks so much!
KarenHi Karen. It certainly does work with WordPress 3.0.1 ๐
Thank you! I just installed it and built my sitemap, and it worked like a dream!
Thanks so much. ๐
