Googlebot Ignores permalinks

Even though I have my permalinks setup as “/%postname%.html”, google archives my pages using the month and year format. For example, my page is set and displays correctly in the browser as: http://www.mysite.com/blog/my-new-page.html

But googlebot references it as: http://www.mysite.com/blog/2011/08 (for August 2011). I have check and rechecked all my settings and all appears ok. I would like google to use the full and correct URL for SEO reasons but can not seem to get them to do it. Any ideas?.
