• I have added Gravatars to my weblog through the Gravatars2 plugin. All is well except that if I add a local gravatar for myself, it comes out with a link pointing to gravatar’s website (like with the blank gravatars) and not to me like with the guest commenators who do have gravatars.

So I deleted the local one and signed up for a Gravatar for myself but still nothing is displayed for me, the admin in comments.

Then I noticed that my own comments are still displaying my old url and so I guess they are linked to my old e-mail as well and not the one I signed up with at the Gravatar site.

I need to either get a local gravatar which points to me or to get my old comments to have the updated user info for the admin. A bit odd that this displayed user info doesn’t change when it is updated in the control panel.

    All help greatly appreciated!!

Email addresses are stored with each comment. Changing the user info does not change the email stored with the comment.

You will need to edit each and every comment and change the email address associated with it. This will likely be quicker to do directly in the database using phpMyAdmin or something like that.

Aha! That is one mystery cleared up at least. Thank you very much!

I have now edited every single old comment I have made and updated the url and e-mail. However, after deleting and refreshing the Gravatar cache, nothing has changed. Still no gravatars for poor mr. Admin. Maybe it takes a day or so for them to appear for a new user?

It still doesn’t explain why the weblog admin cannot have a local gravatar with an url link pointing to that weblog. Now with the slower new Gravatar system I would rather have my own gravatars stored locally instead of having to send out for one for each post.

Ok… so now I have learnt that nobody’s Gravatars work, except for the ones who were registered under the old system and not on the new Gravatar 2.0 system. So that’s that.

I think the fact that the local avatar doesn’t link locally is still caused by the pluging though.
