The reason behind deleting it was not really because of the GPL issue, but because after a reasonable amount of time, no one offered to share their copy, and so rather than being satisfied and looking elsewhere, you repeatedly “bumped” it, which is against the Forum Rules and rather rude, especially for a non-WP related question. If no one wants to give you their copy, just leave it at that.
Thanks micahcooksey, got it, sorry for repeatedly >bumping<.
Since you confirmed it in your above statement -and just for clarification- it is generally no problem to be using a non GPL compliant plugin?
I was under the impression that GPL compliance is a mandatory requirement to play along with WP? Not anymore?
Thanks!
I am by no means a GPL expert, but I think that you can’t release a plugin for WP unless it’s GPL. Since WP is GPL, it would cause issues because plugins hook into various functions of WP, and WP is GPL. You can put yourself to sleep reading this: http://ww.wp.xz.cn/about/gpl/
I appreciate you understanding. There was some discussion about whether or not to allow people asking for copies of paid GPL plugins/software, and the general consensus was that if we get tons of people posting and asking for people to share their licenses, it would sort of distract from the original purpose of this forum, which is to provide support for WP.
There is version 1.2.2 of Gravity Forms in the Pirate Bay. I guess you can find it from other torrent sites too.
I tested it in release candidate of wp 3.0, but it didn’t work because of unexpected output.
Maybe you can ask source code straight from the creator of the plugin. If it’s GPL, they should share the source or it’s violation of the license. Am I wrong?
