Great firewall, malware scanner and two-factor authentication. A solid choice.
-
Okay, after being protected and informed of security incidences for more than 8 years, I owe Wordfence Security a review. I’ve had it installed on many servers and different sites, with very lax settings and very strict settings, and I’ve combined it with my hosts’ hardening features as well. Here’s my takeaways:
- Not once has Wordfence caused any issues for me.
- Very sensible defaults settings are beginner-friendly while providing good protection.
- Two-factor authentication (2FA) is included and very well implemented.
- Logging and monthly reports helps me decide whether I should tighten brute force settings.
- Monthly malware signature updates.
- I have tried and tried, but I’m yet to measure any noticeable performance hit.
- Wordfence Central, available for free users too, provide central overview of multiple sites.
Combined with a good host, regular backups, principle of the least privilege and regular updates, Wordfence provides great security on a budget. That is undeniable a good deal. Recommended!
