• This is a wonderful plugin!

    I give it two thumbs up for some specific features where it surely beats (by far) other similar pdf viewing plugins:
    (1) the easy to use shortcode: just upload the pdf and place a shortcode with the pdf’s url; not need to pre-render or pre-process the pdf, as other plugins require;
    (2) the full screen mode: be it a horizontal or vertical laid out pdf file, the full screen will work nicely, with easy scrolling (via mouse scroll wheel or touch scroll on mobile devices) funcionality;
    (3) the secure functionality: just placing the pdf file in a restricted access folder (like other plugins) is not enough; PDF Embedder Secure renders images and not the pdf pages themselves; it also disables right-clicking to make it harder for the user to download the images one by one, which is surely a nice disincentive for wrongdoers.
    (4) the external and internal links: just build your pdf with incorporated links (internal to the pdf or external to other sites) and PDF Embedder will keep them working automatically; no need to go through your pre-processed pages and to reset up every single link associating it to an area of each page-image as some other plugins require you to do;

    Of course there is always room for improvement, especially in the user usability/interactivity with the pdf viewer screen.
    (a RESOLVED ON VERSION 2.5.5!) keyboard shortcuts: the usability of the plugin would benefit from keyboard shortcuts associated to the toolbar buttons; keyboard left and right arrows could, for example, be linked to the previous/next page toolbar buttons; keyboard up and down arrows could be linked to the scroll up/down page toolbar buttons;
    (b) more touch screen functionalities: the plugin can still benefit from more touch screen actions; currently, just the scrolling up/down and the finger pinch zoom in/out actions work; it would be great to be able to turn to the next or previous page by using a left/right finger movement, especially because the tool bar is far on top or on bottom and buttons are very small;
    (c) thumbnails: another interesting functionality that is missing is a thumbnails panel, like the one pdf.js has built in, as you can see here https://mozilla.github.io/pdf.js/web/viewer.html.

    Well … taking into account the great features already incorporated into the plugin and Dan Lester’s good intentions to improve it, as he has shown lately, incorporating new features … I STRONGLY RECOMMEND THIS PLUGIN.

    best regards!

    After seeing your new update to the plugin in version 2.5.5, I have updated my review above to mark suggestion (a) as resolved. 🙂

    If I could raise to 6 stars, I would!
