Hi, is the number of posts per page set to a value of 4 or more?

My first attempt was to have 4 columns with 40 products per page. But it returned three columns (though the 40 products/posts per page worked).

Hi, can you add a link to the page you are referring to, so I can have a closer look?

    Sure. Site

As you haven’t enabled the grid/list on the front end, it is not enabled. Your page is styled by your custom css (enabling 3 columns).

You can test this (and hopefully confirm this) by temporarily setting the front end option to display the grid/list options. That should also enable the grid/list styling.

I think it could be an enhancement to have the loop use the grid/list settings even when grid/list is not a selection on the front end. I’ll add that to the todo list.

That was indeed the issue. Thanks. Though, do I need to enable something else in order to make the list view work when selected on the front end?

Can you download version 1.0.1 and see if that resolves the issue?
