Grid layout with only 1 component option

I would like to display all components in the grid layout even if the component has only one option. Currently if a component only has 1 product to choose from it displays as a single line like the ddslick layout. I have set the global layout settings to grid as well as each individual component on the composite product page, however it does not display in grid form unless there is more than 1 option in the component.

I am creating composite products where some components only have 1 option and others have multiple items to choose from, the frontend display of the composite product looks very unappealing and uneven if some components display in grid layout and others in list layout. I would like everything to display the same grid layout. Would this be possible?
