• Some of my products have GTINs and others are handmade and do not have GTINs. Showing in merchant center gets affected by GTINs, so how can I solve this in order for products in merchant center to show properly.

Please note that I use a third party plugin for GTINs, so when I tried to add GTIN in the attributes and directing it to the third party plugin it did not work and now in the errors tab all my products have gtin issue.

    Hi there!

Thank you for explaining the issue. I understand the challenge you’re facing when some of your products have GTINs while others are handmade and do not, especially when this is affecting your product listings in Google Merchant Center.

If some of your products are handmade and do not have manufacturer-assigned GTINs, then you do not need to add GTIN values for those products. In fact, entering incorrect GTINs can lead to additional issues in Google Merchant Center.

For custom or handmade products that do not have product identifiers, we recommend the following:

    • GTIN – Leave this field blank.
    • MPN – Use the product SKU from WooCommerce.
    • Brand – Enter your domain name (without https:// or www).

Providing the MPN and Brand values when no GTIN exists helps Google understand that the product does not have a GTIN and can prevent those products from being flagged for missing identifiers.

You can assign these values to multiple products at once using the Google for WooCommerce attribute mapping feature.

For products that do have GTINs, we recommend adding them using the default WooCommerce GTIN field available on the product edit page. This ensures compatibility with Google for WooCommerce and allows the plugin to correctly sync the identifier data to Google Merchant Center.

If you prefer to use a third-party GTIN plugin, we recommend contacting the plugin’s support team to confirm whether their plugin is compatible with Google for WooCommerce and whether it is correctly assigning and exposing GTIN values in a way that Google for WooCommerce can recognize and sync.

    I hope this helps.

    Hi @aitta10,

That looks correct! Your attribute mapping has MPN mapped to product:sku and Brand set to your domain name. That’s exactly what was recommended for products without GTINs, so you’re on the right track.

The “Scheduled for sync” status means the updated attribute data is queued and will be sent to GMC on the next sync cycle. Once that completes, Google should have the MPN and Brand values for your handmade products and the identifier warnings should start to clear, though it can take up to a few days for Merchant Center to re-evaluate and update the status.

For your products that do have GTINs, make sure those are entered directly on each product’s edit page using the WooCommerce GTIN field (rather than through the attribute mapping) so they sync correctly. Keep an eye on your Merchant Center errors tab over the next couple of days and let us know if the GTIN issues persist after the sync completes.

    Hope that helps.
