Gutenberg Editor

I’m excited about the new editor features. I can see the value in what the new Gutenberg Editor brings and I am excited to begin implementing this feature into my website design.

Over the weekend, I tried replicating a page on my website. I thought it was going to be easy. I was wrong.

Refer to the page I referenced, I found I could not at all.

In my staging arena for this website, I worked several hours trying to mimic this page. What I found is that I had too few text formatting controls within the cells of the table block. All I could use was paragraph and bold. I could not even get the contents of the cells to be centered horizontally. I even tried inserting header and text blocks inside the cells of the table, which failed as there was no option presented to handle it.

I then tried using the column block. Granted, I was more forgiving knowing the block style is still in beta. While I had more control over the format of the text, I was still unable to use the Header values to really enhance the cell. I also struggled to create a four column block. Since I could not define the number of columns, I tried putting a new 2 column block inside each of the columns of another column block. I found that I was unable to edit the contents of the columns when I did that.

What I did learn is the column blocks still a lot of work, and table blocks are still rudimentary.

Does anyone have any ideas? Can anyone replicate my page to render how it currently renders using blocks?

Can the developers add the text formatting functions to table cells currently available in the classic editor?
