This may be a plugin or theme conflict. Please attempt to disable all plugins, and use one of the default (Twenty*) themes. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of your troubles.

If you can install plugins, install “Health Check”: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/health-check/ On the troubleshooting tab, you can click the button to disable all plugins and change the theme for JUST you, while you’re still logged in, without affecting normal visitors to your site. You can then use its admin bar menu to turn on/off plugins and themes one at a time. See https://make.ww.wp.xz.cn/support/handbook/appendix/troubleshooting-using-the-health-check/ for more information.

I tried troubleshooting and disabled all the plugins, didn’t help. When I switched to another theme, I was able to see the Gutenberg edit section at least but it was still missing the functionality and the look. This happened after the last WordPress update.

Should I go back to the previous version? If I should, is there any way you can suggest?

    Thanks a lot.

Rolling back is not generally a good idea. What browser are you using? There are some browser-related gotcha’s in 5.4 that will be fixed in 5.4.1.

I’m using Google Chrome, I just tested on Opera but had the same problem.

If you switch to an incongito window, does the problem go away for a while?

    No, unfortunately, it doesn’t :/

Try rolling back to 5.3.2 and wait for 5.4.1

Yes, that seems to be the best option for now! Thanks a lot for your help, I really appreciate it! 🙂

I can only rollback plugins and themes with that plugin, I tried downgrade plugin but didn’t really work either. Could there be something more that I need to do?

I rolled back to 5.3.2 now and I can use the Gutenberg editor. But it is slightly different than the previous one, it now shows the edit section full screen (without the WordPress side bar on the left) and I no longer have the option to edit the pages on front end and backend editor. Any idea why it happens?

You may have mixed versions of the editor. Rolling back is never a really good solution.
