Gutenberg Editor Image Block caption changed

    Running WP 4.9.8 and just updated theme Twenty Seventeen from version 1.7 to 1.8.
    Also running Gutenberg plugin.

    In post composed in Gutenberg and containing an Image block, the image caption (at the bottom below the image) is now left justified. Was previously centered.

    Was this intentionally changed?
    Should WordPress be upgraded to Version 5 for use with Twenty Seventeen 1.8?
