1) Image and image gallery captions now cover the image
1a)They have a gradient background. For small images this is insanely silly. All you see is the caption2) Inconsistent caption and image alignment in gallery blocks. Depending on the image size. Crop keeps things aligned if columns are set, but (obviously) ruins the images if they are different widths. Narrow images even set to centered end up left aligned with a caption that overflows the width of the screen.
3) Left aligned images set into text, end up with right justified captions… huh?
4) any CSS fixes in appearance section (obviously) don’t render in the backend and worse… none of these numerous partial CSS fixes actually resolve the issues, and most introduce all kinds of side effects like . A) hover over linked image in Safari (desk or mobile) causes image caption to float with mouse. B) Firefox ignores caption bounds and allows it to flow across the screen. C) gallery images if not cropped are not baseline aligned…
Countless reports of 3rd party theme issues, none of which occurred in the old engine.

Worse, the deeper I dig, the more I get the feeling that the powers that be either don’t care or don’t feel that there is a problem.
I honestly don’t get how a mature platform can be crippled in one fell swoop and nobody cares. “hey don’t look there… look over there at the shin
