You’re right, it currently doesn’t work with Gutenberg: While the options page, the shortcode and the template functions still work, It would not show up in the edit page; nothing is lost but you’ll not be able to edit the captions.
We definitely plan to add support for it but not sure if it will be in time for the WP 5.0 release
At the moment it works with WP 4.9.8 ad the latest update of FSM. It still shows the caption, also with new images. I’m curious if this will stay. 🙂
When we tested with the 5.0+ beta releases, the only thing that did not show up was the image form in the post edit page, other than that, the plugin works and will keep showing the featured image caption as usual; you just won’t be able to edit it if you use Gutenberg.
Just a follow-up now that 5.0 & Gutenberg are out: As said, the plugin works fine but still not compatible with Gutenberg, so you’ll have to install and activate the classic editor plugin to be able to use it in the post editor page.
