    Hi,

I have just updated the Gutenberg plugin from version 15.2.0 to 15.2.1 but now I am having problems accessing the FSE. When the plugin is deactivated FSE is not affected.

Has anyone else experienced similar problems in the last day or so?

    Many thanks.

  • I am having problems accessing the FSE

I did a quick test with 15.2.1 and FSE (the Site Editor) seems to be working correctly.

Could you share more details on what is not working as expected? Thank you!

    Thank you for your reply.

The Gutenberg plugin has now updated to 15.2.3 but I am still having the same issues. If the plugin is activated and I want to edit the home page in FSE (Appearance – Editor), then the editing page is blank, just white with a small spinning circle in the centre of the screen. If I deactivate the plugin, all is well and the page is visible for editing.

    Hi @editorialteam

Could you please provide the following information to help better understand how to replicate the issue:

    • What version of WordPress are you using?
    • Is the issue present with all your plugins (except Gutenberg) temporarily deactivated? You can use the Health Check plugin‘s troubleshooting mode for this, which will not change your live site. If the problem goes away, reactivate your plugins one by one (while still in troubleshooting mode) to find the culprit.
    • What theme and version are you using?
    • Is the issue present with a default theme like Twenty Twenty-Three? Again, you can use the Health Check plugin for this, which won’t affect your live site.

I am using WordPress 6.1.1 and the Twenty Twenty Three theme. When I go into Health Check plugin troubleshooting mode, the problem disappears, in other words I can view the home page for FSE (Appearance – Editor).

The only way I can use FSE for the home page when the Gutenberg plugin is activated is by selecting Appearance – Editor – Templates – Home and then Edit.

    Thank you.

As a caveat, I’m having to use the Gutenberg plugin in order to harness the Post Author link. In vanilla Twenty Twenty Three this option is not available.

Thanks for that additional information @editorialteam

Could you also please provide the following information to help continue troubleshooting:

    • What version of PHP are you running?
    • What host are you with? There have been reports of some issues with Dreamhost’s “Extra web security” setting.
    • Is it just the Home template that you’re having trouble with? What about other templates, like Archive or Single? What about template parts like Header or Footer?
    • If it’s just Home where you’re experiencing the issue, have you made any edits to the default Home template?

As a caveat, I’m having to use the Gutenberg plugin in order to harness the Post Author link. In vanilla Twenty Twenty Three this option is not available.

Ah gotcha, yes, I understand the need for that. This feature should become available in core when WP 6.2 is released in a few weeks!

    Hi,

I’m running PHP 8.1.16 and Bluehost is my hosting company. There’s no problem editing the home page or other pages/templates, the only anomoly is the convoluted way in accessing the home page. Perhaps I ought to wait until WP 6.2 is released, I can then not use the Gutenberg plugin for post author links.

    Many thanks.

I am using WordPress 6.1.1 and the Twenty Twenty Three theme. When I go into Health Check plugin troubleshooting mode, the problem disappears, in other words I can view the home page for FSE (Appearance – Editor).

Hi @editorialteam I am not able to replicate the issue on my end either. There is a possibility that there might be a plugin conflict on the site, to rule that out try to temporarily deactivate your plugins one by one, without using the health check plugin.

Additionally, can you try to create a new clean install of WordPress on another server. Once that is done, export your content by going to Tools > Export. You can import this content on the new site by going to Tools > Import see if the problem persists

    Hi @thelmachido,

Thanks for trying. I’ll try your suggestions. Many thanks.
