• Hi all,

A WordPress site I help with was hacked today and I’m hopefully taking the correct precautions. I just wanted to ask the likely source if possible?

I received 30 notifications of passwords changed, each for a new account. Each account had created a new post(random stuff about hobbies). I can log in and have deleted all of this and updated all plugins and WordPress too. I’m waiting for access to the server so I can check the files there and upgrade the PHP version.

Is this a familiar thing? I’m really conscious that the actual hack route should be identified.

    Thank you,

    Nige.

    Hi,

    Thanks.

I’ve been going through that guide but it hasn’t yet pinpointed the actual course of the breech yet.

    Thanks,

    Nige.

which vendor is hosting your website – can you have a conversation with the webhosting support team about possible sources?

    Hi,

That’s certainly my next move (I’m not the site owner), I just hoped a description of the hack could indicate a possible course.

    Thanks,

    Nige.
