• Site now displays new content, so I’m unsure what might have been wiped in wp_admin, though not many files show recent changes when I look from the Host side.
I can only confirm that I looked at the site on Sept. 10, and I saw the changes last night.
Every attempt to log in to wp_admin leads to the same or other permutations of the same new content — can’t get to mysite/wp_admin/ or mysite/wp_login, much less see what is going on.
Unfamiliar cookies now show the site, from pxlgnpgecom-a.akamaihd.net — don’t know if they are from plugin or some other source.
    What I’ve done from https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/article/faq-my-site-was-hacked/#other-resources:
    — Scanned site remote and found no issues.
    — reset password via phpMyAdmin on host db
    — Host rep advised that I could overwrite /wp_admin and /wp_content manually, and there was no effect. Realized later that the backup was from an older version of WordPress, and have asked Host to roll back to a more recent update from their end.
    — after rollback confirmation, will upload new secret keys and salts to force login.

Really, I don’t know how else to get into my site to see what’s left. Please advise.

  • Your DNS is pointing to a service Incapsula / Imperva – is that deliberate – is that something you or BlueHosts use – or should your DNS be pointing at a Bluehost IP. It looks like a parked domain service.

@alanfuller It should be pointed toward Bluehost, and that’s what Bluehost shows on the back end. I will look this up later in the day to see if I can understand what this means. Thanks!
