    hi,
    we are using the TinyMCE Advanced in front end, so users can post their blogs.
    Is there a way to allow them to create and select new #hashtags?

    Not really sure what you mean by #hashtags. Do you mean WordPress tags and/or categories? If yes, you should be able to copy some of the code from the Edit Post page.
