  • In your FTP, chmod all files 644 and directories 755. Once I did that, I have not been hacked.

    Thank you,
But I am very ‘debutant’ and do not understand chmod all files 644 and directories 755

Do you mean I use the editor in WP or do I use a text editor to
    write on certain files.

    Please explain a little more?

    thank you
    K

    Hey Kimbert,

I suggest installing All in one security & firewall plugin: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/all-in-one-wp-security-and-firewall/

This should help you harden WordPress in a much easier and faster way.

Thank you Mayank for this information. I have looked at that plug in and will consider it. It seems to do what I am looking for.

I think I would like to try the files and directories via my ftp.

Hotwebideas, I am doing this in French and now have access to my FTP.
Now I can only see files (fichiers) on my FTP.
    Where are the directories?

    thank you
    Kathleen

    Hey Kathleen,

If you’re hardening – you really should use that plugin 🙂
CHMOD is a very small section of hardening WordPress and I believe this plugin will give you a lot more security points to fix that you may not have thought of otherwise.

And to answer your FTP question:

well, the directories are wp-includes, wp-content, wp-admin etc..

    Regards,
    Mayank
