having difficulties

I am relatively new to wordpress and building websites and our developer has let us down terribly- we are still having a few problems with customizing Maisha:

1. The text box on the home page- I keep changing the padding but the top of the box is still padding too far away
2. There seems to be a very light blue colour in the background to every page even though I have set it to white- it constantly is light blue
3. I’d like to add a news/blog post to a certain page and for some reason it will not allow me to do so- even though I follow the instructions etc.

Would really like some assistance as I know its only fiddly work but we need it done soonest.
