hCaptcha Option

    Dear Guido,
    thank you very much for the great plugin, I like it a lot.

    I was wondering, if you would consider adding hCaptcha support to your plugin? There is already a wordpress plugin that can add hCaptcha with a shortcode, but as I have read in another support post, one cannot remove the sum/number Captcha in order to use hCaptcha instead.

    Hi Ben,

    Sorry, but I don’t consider adding support for this. But I can add an option to disable the simple capcha of VSCF.

    Is there a reason you want this, do you get a lot of spam? Besides current simple captcha VSCF also has a honeypot field. I almost never get complaints about spam.

    Hi Guido,
    thank you for the fast and kind reply.

    I have not tried the plugin on a live website yet, only locally. But it is reassuring to hear that the honeypot and math’s captcha are working so well. I was only wondering if bots are good at math ;), and therefore considered adding hCaptcha (as it also complies with GDPR).

    I will try it out on a live website in the coming weeks.

    Hi Ben,

    I agree that addons such as reCaptcha or hCaptcha are better than a simple numeric captcha, but somehow my plugin is quite good at preventing spam. The honeypot field may help as well. And maybe spam bots prefer targeting the more popular contact form plugins. But am not certain about this. Please try and find out 😉

    it could very well be that spammers target as many people as possible, thus only focussing on the most popular plugins.
