I am developing a site which will be used as a documentation site for both a firm and to some extent customers buying services from this firm. As for now I am using a local server as sandbox, so I have no url to share with you.
I have organized navigation on the site by the aid of a huge – meaning HUGE – menu with several levels of submenus. What I experience, is that as the menu has become bigger, its functionality has been reduced. It failes to respond to the clicks on the menu – I have to redo pointing and clicking several times over before it opens the page I wish to open.
Being a relative newbie, I fail to understand what causes this.
Does WordPress choke because of the size of the menu ? If that is the case, I shall have to rethink the structure of the site. As this probably will decrease the functionality of the site, I certainly hope not…
I am using a child theme under ColorMag, made by ThemeGrill. Is it the theme that needs adjustment? In earlier days I have experienced that menus some times just responded to the text in each menu point, while other menus responded to the entire text field in the menu point.
Or may the problem be stuck somewhere else ?

Huge menus with several levels of submenus are difficult to navigate, regardless of any other issues. You might reconsider the organization of the site and consider mid-level “landing” pages which represent sub-menu items. Another option is to use a more complex menu plugin like https://wpmegamenu.com/ to make an easier to navigate menu structure.

    Thank you so much, Steve.
I think I shall have to listen to your good advice and start rebuilding the entire structure of the site. The good thing about that is that structure building is some of the funniest part of buliding a new site.
Again : Thank you so much for help and good advice. Much appreciated.
