Header bar – insert text

I am using the NewsUp theme for out internal intranet and it works perfectly. My CEO has asked me if it is possible for me to add some text into the top row of the header where the social media icons would normally be.

I have managed to manually add this by editing the hook-header.php file at line 43 but any updates to the them will need me to manually edit this again.

Is there another option I can leverage for this?
