You used your image as a background image. This will not shrink but the central portion is preserved when viewed on a smaller screen.
For the type of image that you used on your site, it may be more suitable for the logo option or a combination of the logo option and a header widget.

Thanks for your quick response. I will try those suggestions. I also want to thank you for such a great theme. I just randomly selected your theme when I was asked to create a website using WordPress. It’s been a real learning experience for someone with no IT background, but thanks to your theme and support I’m managing.
