Header image is truncated

When viewing the ascension sample on the themes page it shows an image of a woman viewing a tablet. That image is shown full height with no obscuring. However, when I activate the theme and add a header image it is both darkened and only shows a portion of the image. How do get it to show the full image like the sample does?
