header image not rendering responsively on mobile

I was initially using a 1200×600 logo graphic for the header image. The site looked great on my desktop, but the logo is vastly oversized on my Android phone

I replaced that image with an 800×600 version, but am still having this problem.

I’ve seen the recommendation for a 600px height, but are thre recommended dimensions for width so this doesn’t happen?
