    Hello,

I’m thinking of moving to WP Engine and one of the engineers there stated Imagify is problematic because:

“imagify notoriously heavy on admin-ajax. Replace with a cloud hosted solution such as wp-smushit or shortpixel”

I’d like to hear your take on this as I was under the impression you guys are cloud hosted (I’m using a free account, maybe these free ones arent?) and are pretty performance conscious considering you also run WP Rocket.

    Warmly,

    Matt

    Hey @soprano,

We have sent you the answer via our Support channel as well, so I am updating this thread as well with similar content:

Unfortunately, this is true – Imagify will send a lot of requests (basically for each optimized image we have to use admin-ajax).

The only solution we have at this moment is to reduce the number of processes started at once, which should reduce the parallel usage of admin-ajax. We have provided the helper plugin to do that.

We will probably not reduce the number of parallel optimizations by default (it is 4 at the moment). It works fine in most of the cases (we have over 400000 users) so it’s more about the hosting to handle/allow this kind of request (WP Engine should do it just fine).

It would be ideal for you to take some time to test other solutions and see if these fit your needs in a better way. We would completely understand if any of these you mentioned works better for your case.

Hope this helps. Let me know if there is anything further we can help you with.

    Best Regards
