[Topic changes – “Help” is not a useful topic]

I’ve been helping a friend update her wordpress site… we’ve made several changes…
I was attempting to add a favicon, but I haven’t been able to figure it out.
I added a bit of code to the bottom of the functions.php file, then deleted it… I didn’t think I changed any things else in that file, but now I get this message
“Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘<‘ in /home/isaiah/public_html/new/wp-content/themes/preference-lite/functions.php on line 651”
and the entire site is off-line! (I’m feeling a little ill…)
I can’t do anything except use the back button to get to the functions.php file. I can’t go to any other page in the dashboard, etc.
I would be EVER SO GRATEFUL if someone can tell me what I’ve done!
    Thank you!
