HELP! content & editor disappeared

    hi

    my live website still shows content (phew). However there is nothing at all in the backend (when I’m in the wordpress editor).

    In fact the bar has disappeard that usually gives option of how you’d like to edit e.g. text edit / html edit / site origin layout editor (I think that’s what they are all called?)

    what is there is
    *page name

    *(this row) add widget / add row / layouts/ history / live editor / addons / tutorials
    (the if i click on ‘live editor’ it shows no content on the page… just the header and footer.
    * word count: 0
    *Yeost SEO editing options

    It’s on both my websites

    using same theme on both – Hemingway.

    no idea what’s happened… and really odd that it’s happened to both sites.

    Any ideas??!!!!!

    A few thoughts:

    1. Your server is running a very old version of PHP. Check your control panel to see if you can upgrade from 5.3 to 5.6 or 7.x

    2. This may be a plugin or theme conflict. Please attempt to disable all plugins, and use one of the default (Twenty*) themes. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of your troubles.

    its looking more like the php – ive sent a request to upgrade to 5.6 or 7.x
    fingers crossed they’ll respond and say yes

    Having disabled all plugins and tested them all one by one – it seems that ‘site origin’ is crashing the site … I’ve used it for years on here with no issues… any ideas why it would now be causing a problem?

    (And any alternatives recommended??)

    wanted to say thank you Steve….

    that problem was fixed by
    …downgrading the wordpress version from 4.8 to 4.6.6 and disabling automatic updates… and the pagebuilder is now working, something to do with 4.8 not being compatible with pagebuilder Version 2.5.8.

    Downgrading WordPress is really not an acceptable solution. Look for an update to your pagebuilder.
