Could use help creating Child theme
-
I just want to customize my site and not break everything as I have been warned will happen if I don’t use a child theme.
I would gladly do it.
So I am following this article
https://codex.ww.wp.xz.cn/Child_ThemesI’m sorry but it is not that simple! I am good with HTML, OK with CSS, but I don’t do PHP…..
If it’s so important for us to use a child template, it should a little easier IMHO. Better yet, why not provide a child template with every theme by default?
I got to the last step and they just lost me.
I have to make a functions.php file, but the example they show “will only work if your Parent Theme uses only one main style.css”
… no instructions on what to do if your parent theme has more than one stylesheet.
And, If your child theme has more than one .css file then you will have to make sure to maintain all of the Parent Theme dependencies.
then they just LOSE ME!
Shouldn’t I be able to change the font or size of my headings if I want to, without learning PHP? Isn’t that one of the great things about WordPress supposedly?
I just would like to do some simple customization like reduce white space, change heading sizes, and if I follow all the advice like a good person should, they all say to create child theme first.
Shouldn’t there be a “create child theme” button somewhere?????
Help?!?
