[HELP] Filtering

I am using custom fields to help organize my products. Is it possible to remove custom fields based on previous filter selections? For example:

I have a diamond ring and a sapphire necklace in my inventory.

I have categories: Ring and Necklace

I have custom field: Stone that has Diamond and Sapphire.

If I choose to only displays rings I want sapphire to not be displayed as a search results since I do not have sapphire rings.

I hope this makes sense.
