    This is, as you already correctly guessed, an AJAX-based navigation. There is a plugin for this here: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/ajax-press/

    But be careful: The condition for this to work is that the used theme supports it with suitable HTML code. Look at the plugin page carefully, there are the possibilities described.
