• I have no problem writing them origionaly, but if I have to change something, it won’t make the changes (despite acting like it has saved). What do I do?!?

  • Maybe your browser’s cached it? Go to the page and hit F5.

Other than that – once it’s saved, and you go back to manage it, are your changes shown? I.E. you edit a page, adding the text “Test”. You hit save. When you go and edit the page again, is the text “Test” appearing?

Nope, two browsers (FF and IE), and once I enter the changes and hit save they’re gone. No changes, just the origional versions.

Have you been able to edit previously? Or is this a new install and you’ve only just tried to edit?

    Fresh install.

AH! I remember when it started: right after i switched to a static front page. I’m not sure if that makes a difference, but it’s when the troubles began.

Oh I don’t know, maybe try disabling that plugin and see if it makes any difference?

    When in doubt…

    I’ll be back.

Well, thanks for the thought. that would CERTAINLY have made sense, but no joy.

    Anyone else?

Well, if it worked before and it does not work now, either you did something to change it or there is some problem with your host or database or something.

My suggestion, reinstall WP from scratch.

EEEK! Ok, forgive the dumb question, but is there a way to reinstall it without losing all the work I’ve done?

You’ll have to explain what work you mean, ie: is it database, templates, what?

Kep, if by work you mean all your posts and pages, then don’t worry, you won’t lose them – they’ll still be in your database. To be sure, follow Podz’ guide to backing up your database (backing up regularly is good procedure anyway).

Thanks for the thought folks, but Bah! Fresh install and still I can’t edit a previously made post. There’s something silly I’m missing here, I know it.

It could be something on your setup – do you have a firewall/internet security program that could be locking certain stuff down? For example, I have Norton Firewall, and I never used to be able to change Options settings because it used to disable sending referrers (which were needed at the time). I’m not saying that’s specifically it, and I’m unfamiliar with what’s required to edit a post, but perhaps it’s something in your setup? Might be worth playing around, eliminating possibilities.

Are you using the Admin user to do these edits? Have you created another user that you use, that maybe doesn’t have the rights to edit Admin’s posts? (Just throwing ideas out here).
