• My blog was hacked and as a result I had to delete version 2.0.3 of WP to version 2.3. I was unable to export my posts but I was able to download all the old data. Is there a way to easily import my old posts into the WP version 2.3?

    Thanks,
    Buzz

  • Did you backup the database?

No. I have the archive folders though.

There is no archive folder(s) in WP. So, what do you have?
And just for the record and for the future: all your content, like posts, comments, Pages and settings – are always stored in the database, never in any file(s).

I have three folders titled 2003, 2004 and 2005. Inside those folders are 12 folders for each month of the year. Perhaps they are left from an old version of WP?

So the posts would be in the SQL database?

    Thanks for the help folks.

Was that blog ever imported from blogger or from some other blogging tool? Those folders, usually, appear when that happened…

Actually yes, I forgot that. I suppose I could just import them using the ‘import’ function under the ‘manage’ menu option?

Maybe… however, they contain ONLY the posts that were in that old blogging tool. Nothing made with WordPress!

Looks like I’m screwed. I can import the old ‘blogger’ posts but these hackers corrupted my WP database. Luckily, the Wayback Machine at archive.org has quite a bit of my more recent posts, but I’ll have to do that by hand.

    Thanks for the information folks.
