    HI! im a recent user of wordpress and i have a few years in coding php etc, but as i say this is all new to me. The problem is this, after updating (almost instantly) after installing WP v 2.9, to the latest version i cant edit or create new pages or posts. instead my WP installation does this:

    and it’s hanging there for eternity. it does the same on every page of creating or editing. Co-incidentally i thought maybe a browser clean or cache etc was needed but nope. no results. Chrome is my main browser but i have tried IE too and no luck. Any help? Thanks.

    Try:
    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme by renaming your current theme’s folder in wp-content/themes using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    Switching themes- would i rename twenty ten theme to my theme?

    No You need to rename the theme you using so that the default theme twenty ten theme opens.

    No – just rename your current theme’s folder to anything you want.

    Then try resetting the plugins folder via PhpMyadmin. It’s more effective than the FTP approach in some cases. Also try:

    – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress.

    – increasing the memory available to PHP:

    nope none of these worked. re installed all wp includes and admin files no luck. increased memory by htaccess and config seperately and nothing. do you suggest a rollback on version? 2.9 was working fine. and if so what files would need to be kept?

    How are you using your wordpress are you using from a directory?

    i have access to file manager and ftp on my server. im using wordpress on the internet lol. its a shared server.

    That is not what I meant I need to know if your urls were same or you had home url and wordpress url different.

    no i dont both are the same. Home url: mydomain.com/Content as is WP. Ive double checked all settings. This all happened after i done an on site update of wordpress to upgrade to the recent version. Its single handed killed my installation. I think a downgrade to 2.9 is the only option as that version was fine. Its not a browser issue as ive used chrome, FF, IE and opera with no results.

    did you keep a back up before upgrading if so that is only option to go back 2.9 or ask your host if they have backup they restore your wordpress back to 2.9
