The comment form needs to be in the loop to associate with the post…..
Unless you are able to come up with a crafty solution to associate the two….

How did freelanceswitch do it? Obviously their skills are way above mine.. damn there goes my design.
It’s a matter of how you set up your layout. You can easily achieve this while still having it be in the loop.
Looking at what you have now
just get rid of your float:left;
and add a width that is the width of your entire page.

you want to get rid of the float in your comment div … which no longer seems to be there.
I was looking at the code and thought maybe you meant the comment float 🙂

I’m really new to wordpress, so sorry if this question is lame. I’m trying to put my comment template outside of the main loop but it seems to only show up when I place it in the loop. The Reason I want to do this is because I wan’t my comments to be under my left and right columns. If I put the comment for in the original loop it just extends the left column. I designed my comments so that it will span the whole width of the page similar to freelanceSwitch…
