I have had the plugin for quite some time and have been very happy with it – with the upgrade to 2.0, it seemed a good time to ask a question I’ve never been able to figure out.

I’ve made the header of my page sticky, but while reading a long post, if you hit “page down”, several lines of text become hidden behind the cloned header and you have to arrow up a few times to access that missing text. In short, the website still “thinks” the top of the page is the very top of the screen, and not where the bottom of the header meets the top of the content.

    Does that description make sense?

I wondered if there is a way, when creating a cloned header, to redefine the top of the page to be at the point where the header ends and the rest of the page’s content begins?

  • I’m not 100% sure what you mean. Are you saying that instead of scrolling down a FULL page height upon hitting the Page Down key on your keyboard, you would prefer to scroll down only 90% or 95% or something like that?

(The height of the page minus the sticky header?)

    Apologies if I misunderstand.

That is correct! Sorry if I didn’t explain it quite well enough – the height of the page minus the sticky header.

It’s not really possible (or easy) to redefine the space that is being scrolled up (or down) when you hit the Page Down key. I believe this is always set around 90% or so, but it is what it is.

However, I have another plugin in the WordPress repo that adds arrows to your page that you can use to scroll, and those you can define. So, if you want the page to scroll only HALF a page when you hit the DOWN arrow, you can change that. Or if you want the page to scroll only 10%, that’s possible too.

Maybe that plugin could be helpful and serve your needs. You can check it out here: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/smooth-page-scroll-updown-buttons/

Thanks for the info and the quick response – I wasn’t sure if it was an easy fix that I was overlooking, or not. I will check out your other plugin in the meantime!
