We were just getting hammered on a number of sites with form spam and believe this is a great way to stop it. But since Honeypot is showing one thing to a human visitor and another to the bots, I’m wondering if anyone has had any issues with a Google penalty since it’s a form of cloaking – i.e. presenting something different to the bots vs. human visitors since the honeypot field is hidden using css.

Google shouldn’t be blindly punishing sites for using CSS the way it’s intended to be used. If you are masking a bunch of keywords in elements set to be “visibility:hidden” or “display:none”, I can see that causing penalties, but I’ve never heard of Google penalizing sites for utilizing hidden elements carte blanche.

Hidden links and keywords are what google looks for, not forms.
