hidden limit login attempts plugin

i installed Limit login attempts plugin years ago and wanted to delete it and install a more up to date plugin as i see it has not been updated in years.

running latest version of WP

Is this built into WP as a default in settings?
I thought i installed it years ago as a plugin but here’s why i ask…

when i go into the wp side panel under settings, there is a limit login attempts button which allow me to see settings

cannot turn it off or uninstall it

if i go into plugins, it’s not in there anywhere

when i check ftp, it’s not in the plugins folder either

so is this built into WP and when i updated wp, it was added or is this plugin hidden and should be able to be uninstalled?

If hidden and in error, how do i try to uninstall it?
