Hide featured image?

Is there a way (either built into the theme, or with adjustments to the child theme) to set a featured image for a post, but to not have it show up on the post itself? Or if not, to be able to adjust where the featured image appears in a post? Right now the featured image just shows up above the title, and I’d like to find a way to (ideally) still have a featured image, but not have it show up on the post – or if that is not possible, at least to be able to adjust where the featured image sits in the post.
