• I’ve been creating a photography portfolio and I’m trying to make it as awkward as possible to directly go to my images if unscrupulous people try to steal them.

When images are placed in a Photonic gallery, when I hover over them they show the image url in the bottom left of my browser (Firefox). Is there any way to stop or hide this?

Photonic doesn’t include any setting of this sort (and it never will) – you will have to use a different plugin for this. In the past I have been asked about disabling right-clicks, and even in that case my answer is the same.

The philosophy behind this sort of an approach is very simple – a person who really wants to download stuff from your site simply needs to view the source of your page, or open the “Developer Tools” that come standard with every browser. Trying to put in scripts that prevent your URLs from showing in the browser’s status bar will slow down your site and will not deter the folks who actually have an interest in downloading content.
