Hide section depending on user role

is there anyway to hide a section from a certain user role?If not, this basic feature would be useful.

Sure.
On my site frontpage I want to show a big intro section but only for unregistered users.
Once user is registered, they know what the site is about, and don’t need to see that big intro. But they would see the slider of new posts instead.
Can this be done?
