Hiding Password Protected Posts

    I’m trying to hide password protected posts on the homepage. I tried to implement what the codex suggests here: http://codex.ww.wp.xz.cn/Using_Password_Protection and while it works fine on my local installation (posts are hidden on the homepage but are viewable on the page itself) it doesn’t work on my production environment and I get a 404 when trying to visit the page.
