high cpu usage from sending emails

hello, whenever someone places an order, the woocommerce uses post smtp to send two emails, one to us to notify us that an order was placed and one to the customer to confirm their order was placed successfully, it seems that whenever there is a high amount of people on the website, the website locks up, which seems to be coming from post smtp, we are authenticating using gmail api. let me know what can be done to avoid high cpu usage when this occurs?

updated to the latest during high website traffic from 2.4.5 to 2.5.1, didnt notice an improvement..

@extremist87 Great. Have you completed the migration process? Are your current logs appearing in the new logs section?

migration didnt work, i keep getting the notice saying its still going ahead, disabled plugin and re-enabled didnt help

@extremist87 we have figured out another case where users get stuck during the migration in the 0\XX condition, which might also be yours. We’ll share a beta version in short. Also, we are adding an option to Revert or Skip the migration if required.

We’ll update you once the beta version is available (expected in next few hours) so you can try it on your end to optimize your email delivery.

what settings can we change to help with cpu usage issue? can it queue for emails to go out when cpu is low?

Our new log structure uses custom tables and advanced SQL queries to minimize CPU usage and optimize email delivery. Once you are successfully migrated to the new logs structure, you may see the difference in the results.

Also, we are working on a premium addon that you can expect in the next few weeks, which will have the Asynchronous delivery feature, i.e., queue it in the back end, and send the email in a limited batch after a defined interval.

I want to inform you that we have released Version 2.5.2 update with the following fixes and improvements to streamline your migration process.

FIXES
- Fixed the issue where users were getting stuck in the initial migration stage.
IMPROVEMENTS
- On completing the migration process, limit the notice to the logs section only to delete old logs.
- Added an option to disable migration notifications for seven days on clicking the cross icon on notice.
- Added a new feature that allows users to revert a migration. This way, they can retry the migration process or switch back to the old logs interface if required.
- Added an option to skip the migration process for those who do not wish to transfer their old logs and want to switch to the new interface.
- Added permission check before creating/writing error log during migration.
