Heavy Spamming – 500 trackback/pingbacks every minute

    Hello,

    For past few days, my site “ditii.com” is completely down because of heavy spamming. Spammers are sending 500 trackback & pingback spams every minute, and draining all server resources.

    I’ve tried to block spamming via HTACCESS but that’s not working. I’m truly sure, I’ve done something wrong.

    My blog is installed in /blog folder, and I’m accessing it from the root.

    May I request the experts here to help me getting the site back to life.

    Try starting with Bad Behavior, that should bring down the heavy traffic caused by the spambots. In addition, get another anti spam plugin, Akismet, or one from the plugins section.

    I’m currently using Akismet & WP-SpamFree, but they’re coontinously attacking and draining server resources causing 100% CPU/Memory load. Both these plugins are preventing spam reaching WordPress, but I want to block spaming via HTACCESS to reduce some server load, becasue I don’t have access to Apache.

    Please advice.

    well manually blocking ips and using htaccces is best method i will advice apart from bad behavior ,
