    Hello,
I would like to use the highlighted text funtions in the yoast plugin, but none of them work. These are some errors that were revealed in the Chrome developper tool in the “console” window.

  • Hi @wallym

We apologize for the inconvenience. That sounds like a plugin or theme conflict. Can you try and gather as much information for us as possible? Please perform the following:

    1. Make sure the issue doesn’t persist when using Incognito or other browsers.
    2. Check for conflicts.

If you find any JavaScript errors related to Yoast SEO or if there is a conflict with a plugin or a theme, you can create a new GitHub issue for our developers. Please report the issue to a third party developer as well.

    Same result in incognito.
I will install the check for conflicts plugin soon and see if I can see what is going on. I am not a developer, so I don’t know how effective I will be at finding the problem.

I am using Extra theme by Elegant Themes.

    Hi,

We are not familiar with the Extra theme but does it have some kind of post or page builder? Where you can use modules and drag and drop them to build a page?

    (@wallym)

The extra theme is similar to Divi and has the Divi builder built into it. However, I am not using the builder for the posts that I want to see the highlighted text on.

I also have the Elementor plugin installed, but I only use it for a few posts. Again, I don’t use it for the ones where I want to use the highlighted text function in Yoast SEO.

    Hi,

    There are two different issues.

    A. Elementor and Divi Installed and being used to build pages
Yoast is not compatible with every pagebuilder plugin or theme like Elementor or Divi. If the plugin/theme has added the right code for Yoast to hook into, Yoast is expected to then scan those modules. We are not familiar with that plugin/theme so we are not sure if they have added the right code.

We suggest contacting the plugin’s/theme’s authors and asking them if they have included the right code in all the modules for Yoast to scan. This guide explains more and includes links to the code they need to have: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/is-the-plugin-compatible-with-xyz-visual-page-builder/.

In the meantime, please know that even though Yoast is showing warnings as long as you know you have added the right content like internal links, images, etc., so will Google. Google will still be able to scan the source code of the page.

    B. Divi Installed BUT NOT being used to build pages
This is a bug. If Divi is installed and not being used on pages, we would expect the highlight tool to work. It does not. Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. We apologize for the trouble you are experiencing with our plugin. A bug report is currently open with our development team for this issue.

We suggest commenting on the link below so you may be kept aware of updates. You may need an account in order to comment.
